Record Store Day 2013 - Los Angeles

Rockaway Records - RSD 2013. This year I happened to be home so I went to Rockaway Records in Los Angeles. They had a 20% off everything (except RDS product) sale. They opened at 10am, got there about 8:30 and was about 12th in line. Not bad. The line really started growing after that. It went around the corner and down the street.

So the doors open at 10 and EVERYBODY crowds in and I mean EVERYBODY, they did not regulate the flow of people at the front door as far as I could tell, it was nearly impossible to move in this place. I could not even get down an isle most of the time. I was WAY too close to people I had no interest in being close to, some of these people should brush their teeth and put on deodorant before they leave the house on RSD. Jesus. And Rockaway ought to let in an amount of people that is comfortable and safe, not more, they had a serious capacity issue happening. Not fun and dangerous if you think about it.

Rockaway had all of the RSD vinyl co mingled with all of their new and used LP's with special RSD bin cards.

Always friendly helpful service here. Picked up a few nice LP's then I went down the street to Mono. Rockaway Records 2395 Glendale Blvd. Highly Recommended, but on RSD be prepared to shop for records with lots of smelly nerds crawling up your ass.

Mono Records - My first time here and I was not disappointed. Not much left in the way of RSD product, but who cares? I didn't want any anyway. They did have a bunch of pretty nice used $1 LP's for sale. The prices on everything else was really good and a pretty killer selection as well. Lots of Jazz, Rock, Metal, Punk, etc. Small shop but they have good used records. Right down the street from Rockaway, parking is a bit of a hassle. For RSD they had a 10% off sale happening. Cool. This place rules.1805 Glendale Blvd. Highly Recommended.
